Voice cloning consent and permission
Permission is the starting point for creating, using, or publishing a voice model. This guide explains what Vocloner requires and what to do about misuse.
The core rule: permission before upload
Only upload a recording if it is your own voice or you have express, verifiable permission from the rights holder. Permission should cover model creation or training, audio generation, and the intended use; permission to store a recording does not necessarily include a synthetic voice.
If you act for a company, client, or production, make sure the permission covers everyone speaking in the recording and the commercial use you plan to make.
What Vocloner records
The consent flow records the accepted text version and may associate a timestamp, IP address, verification challenge, evidence audio, technical results, and review status. These records help investigate reports, but they do not turn a false statement into valid permission or universally certify a speaker’s identity.
Voices start private. Publication requires additional authorization because other people may access the voice within the service. If a public voice receives a credible report, it may be quarantined during review.
Prohibited uses
Do not use a model to impersonate, defraud, harass, threaten, extort, fabricate evidence, deceive about identity, or attribute statements to a real person without their knowledge. Do not upload children’s voices, voices of people unable to consent, or third-party voices without permission.
These rules apply whether the audio is made as a joke, test, demo, campaign, or client request. The person starting the operation remains responsible for permission and generated content.
How to report a voice
If your voice or someone else’s voice was published without permission, use the report form. You can report without an account or voice identifier. Include a contact email and explain what happened as specifically as possible.
When a report identifies a public voice, Vocloner may hide it as a precaution. Review may require additional information; we will not share the reported user’s private data with the reporter unless legally required.
Not legal advice
Rules covering voice, publicity, biometric data, advertising, copyright, and privacy differ by country. This page explains Vocloner’s workflow and rules; it does not replace professional advice for your project or jurisdiction.
Consent FAQ
Can I clone my own voice?
Yes. You must confirm that the voice is yours and accept the relevant consent before starting the process.
What permission do I need to clone someone else?
You need express, verifiable, and sufficient permission to create the model, generate audio, and use it within the intended scope. A file someone sent you is not proof of permission by itself.
What if someone published my voice without permission?
Use Vocloner’s report form and provide the voice identifier if you know it, a specific description, and evidence you are entitled to share.
